Donald Smith, of Valley Stream, was apprehended by Nassau County Police on Thursday, April 29, following a months-long investigation into the non-fatal overdose of an area resident, said the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, when officers attempted to arrest Smith, he fled on foot and resisted arrest.

Once captured he was found with 37 bags of alleged heroin, 110 Xanax pills, and 50 Buprenorphine Naloxone pills, according to police.

Smith was charged with:

  • Resisting arrest
  • Nine counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance
  • 16 counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He will be arraigned on Friday, April 30, in Mineola.
