A 35-year-old Long Island woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law following an overnight traffic stop.

Nassau County Police say that after being pulled over in Freeport on Henry Street and Freeport Plaza East, Syreeta Rawlins, of Roosevelt, was found to be driving in an intoxicated condition.

In the vehicle at the time of the stop was her 10-year-old daughter, police said.

Rawlins was placed under arrest and her daughter was given into the custody of her father who responded to the scene.

Rawlins was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated (Leandra’s Law) and endangering the welfare of a child.

She will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday, Jan. 31.
