Terrance Clifford, age 32, of Woodbury, was arrested on Thursday, March 2 in Plainview.

According to Nassau County detectives, Clifford was traveling northbound on Manetto Hill Road, driving a 2016 Toyota sedan. At the intersection of Old Country Road, he struck a 2018 Mazda SUV being driven by a 37-year-old woman, forcing the vehicle to collide with a 2021 Dodge Ram being operated by a 34-year-old man.

Both victims sustained minor injuries but declined to be transported to a hospital.

Clifford fled the scene of the accident on foot heading northeast on Washington Avenue.

A short time later as police were trying to place him under arrest, officers sustained injuries as they attempted to arrest him and he became violent and combative, police said.

Clifford and two officers were transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment.

Clifford is charged with:

  • Two counts of assault
  • Resisting arrest
  • Leaving the scene of an incident
  • Multiple vehicle and traffic infractions

He will be arraigned on Friday, March 3, in Hempstead.
