Fire Damages Long Island Home

A fire broke out in a Long Island home overnight, officials announced.

Firefighters in Massapequa responded to a reported house fire at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 9 on Croyden Drive that broke out inside the residence.

The home sustained “substantial damage” during the fire, a Nassau County Police Department spokesperson said, though fire crews were able to keep the fire from spreading.

Fire investigators said that the cause of the fire was an electrical short in the living room of the home, and the incident was not deemed criminal in nature.

No injuries were reported.
