Nude Man From Deer Park Storms Through Long Island Mosque, Throws Punches: Police

A Long Island man has been arrested after he ran through a local mosque naked and broke the mosque’s property, according to authorities.

Besart Astafa, aged 28 of Deer Park, was arrested on Monday, June 12 for running through a Farmingdale mosque naked, police said.

On Monday, June 12 at approximately 7 p.m., Besart Astafa entered the Masjid Bilal Mosque, located at 425 Fulton Street in Farmingdale without a shirt on, Nassau County Police reported.

Astafa, a 28-year-old from Deer Park, then completely undressed and ran around the mosque’s common area.

He also walked up to an electronic tablet attached to the wall and punched it twice, cracking the screen.

He was arrested on the scene without incident and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Astafa is charged with:

  • Second-degree criminal mischief
  • Exposure of a person
  • Public lewdness
  • Second-degree criminal nuisance

His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, June 13 at First District Court.
