Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing On Long Island Beach

A small plane made an emergency landing on a Long Island beach, just miles from an airport, according to police.

The incident took place around 2:25 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4, when Nassau County Police received a call that a plane needed to make an emergency landing on the beach in Point Lookout, police said.

Officials said the Cessna 150 was able to land successfully on the beach near Garden City Avenue, police said.

The plane was reportedly headed for Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip.

There were no injuries. 

Police have not been notified of what kind of emergency the pilot was experiencing or the number of people aboard the plane.

The plane is currently on the beach until it can be moved.
