Police Say Man Found Dead At Suffolk Home Was Targeted, Offer Reward

Police along with Crime Stoppers are offering a $2,000 fast cash reward for leads in the case of a man who was shot to death inside his Long Island home in what police are now calling a targeted attack.

The shooting death of Steven Byrnes, age 53, took place on a quiet street in Southampton on Christmas Day.

Police are saying the shooting was not a random attack.

According to Lt. Susan Ralph, of the Southampton Town Police, officers responded to a call of a burglary at 90 Roses Grove Road, on Saturday, Dec. 25 at approximately 8:45 a.m. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered Byrnes fatally shot.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. The reward will be paid out within 72 hours.
