The burned, dead bird was found on a path by the lake in Millers Pond County Park on Sunday, July 7, near the Maple and 4th avenues entrance, Suffolk County Police said.

Officials with the Suffolk County SPCA were notified and determined that that the dead rooster was part of ritualistic, satanic animal sacrifice, SPCA officials said.

Previously in February, three decapitated birds were also discovered in this same location.

According to Marcos Quinones, an expert in the occult, this sacrifice appears to be connected to Chango, the god of fire, thunder, and lighting which is why they burned the chicken, the SPCA said.

"We are asking for the public's help to try to find the individual(s) who can share any information that they may have relating to this discovery," they said.

In the previous cases goats, chickens, roosters, cow tongues have all been used in these sacrifices throughout Suffolk County.

The Suffolk County SPCA is conducting an investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk County SPCA at 631 382-7722.

All calls will be kept confidential.
