Man Tries to Break Into Deli With Hammer In Hudson Valley, Police Say A man is facing attempted burglary charges after trying to use a hammer to get into a Northern Westchester deli after-hours, police said. On Friday, Jan. 13, around 5 a.m., state police were told by Zio's Italian Deli in Cortlandt at 2040 Albany Post Rd. (Route 9A) that someone had activated their burglar alarm and broken a window. The oil tanker caught fire at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11 on South Highland Avenue in Ossining near the high school, officials said. Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Route 9A This story has been updated. A male pedestrian was killed overnight after being struck by a vehicle in Northern Westchester. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 in Buchanan on Albany Post Road (Route 9A) between the railroad bridge and Bleakley Avenue near the Peekskill border. Officers from the Buchanan and Westchester County police departments, along with MTA Police, responded. Crashes Cause I-84, Saw Mill Parkway Delays This story has been updated. There were delays on two of the major roadways in the area just as the evening commute got underway Friday. The left lane on I-84 was blocked westbound in Dutchess County for more than an hour at Lime Kiln Road (Exit 15) in Hopewell Junction. There were stop-and-go delays on the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway following a crash that initially blocked the right lane. Route 9A Closure Scheduled There will be weekend lane closures on Route 9A in Westchester. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that from approximately 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, there will be a lane closed in Mount Pleasant between Route 141 and Route 117.
