Nurse Uses Narcan To Rescue Student Who Overdoses At HS In Hudson Valley
A student at a high school in Westchester who overdosed after vaping what they believed to be marijuana was saved by a school nurse. The incident took place at New Rochelle High School on Monday, Jan. 9 when the nurse had to administer Narcan to save the life of the student after they vaped what they believed to be marijuana, said Superintendent of Schools Jonathan P. Suspect In Custody After Fatal Shooting Of Teen In Hudson Valley
A former high school student in Westchester died after being shot multiple times by another teen who was taken into custody, police announced. Officers from the New Rochelle Police Department responded to the corner of 4th Street and Washington Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25, where there was a report of a shooting that had just taken place. Students at a Westchester high school will be displaced for at least a month after suffering water damage and contamination from sewer water that backed up into the building during the recent round of storms. Some students and community members demonstrated and protested over arguments made by lawyers for a New York school district following their response to a lawsuit filed by a teen who alleges that she was raped and choked by a bully. Four dozen students and staffers in a Westchester school will enter a two-week quarantine after potentially being exposed to COVID-19 last week. Interim New Rochelle Schools Superintendent Alex Marrero alerted the community on Saturday, Oct. 31 that a staff member at Albert Leonard Middle School tested positive for the virus after last being in the building on Tuesday, Oct. 27. A Westchester middle school was forced to transition to remove learning after as many as five classes may have been exposed to the virus last week. Interim New Rochelle Schools Superintendent Alex Marrero announced that a staff member at Albert Leonard Middle School has tested positive for COVID-19 and was last in the building on Tuesday, Oct. 27. A high school teacher in Westchester is facing charges for allegedly having sexual contact with a teenage student during school hours, police said. John Fraioli, 34, of White Plains, a teacher at New Rochelle High School, was arrested this week and charged with a felony count of third-degree criminal sexual act after allegedly having inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old student earlier this year. Some local cheerleaders have a little more pep in their step than usual after being crowned as champions. North Rockland High School earned top honors at the 70th annual Westchester County Cheerleading Invitational, which was held at the County Center in White Plains. A teenager has been sentenced to time behind bars after pleading guilty to assault for his role in a high school stabbing in Westchester County last year. Bryan Stamps, 16, has been sentenced as a Juvenile Offender to a term of between one to three years in state prison for first-degree assault, for his role in the stabbing at New Rochelle High School of a classmate.
