13-Year-Old Riding Bicycle Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Residential Roadway In Hudson Valley Police are investigating a crash in which a boy was killed on a residential roadway in the Hudson Valley. It happened around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 in Rockland County. That's when the bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in the village of Pomona at the intersection of High Mountain Road and Overlook Road. Upon arrival, units discovered the vehicle with the 13-year-old boy underneath the vehicle, said Chief John Gould Jr. of the town of Haverstraw Police Department. Man Driving At 3 Times Legal Limit Crashes Into Building In Hudson Valley, Police Say A Hudson Valley man was arrested after he was stopped for alleged drunk driving at three times the legal limit after he crashed into a building. The incident took place in Rockland County around 4:20 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 14 in Ramapo at 63 E. Eckerson Road. A Ramapo police officer was on patrol when he came upon the truck that had struck a building and left the scene, the department said on Facebook. Raging Fire Destroys Cottage At Russian Orthodox Convent In Area A fire has destroyed a cottage located on the property of the Russian Orthodox convent in Nanuet, according to Clarkstown Police. The blaze broke out around 6:18 a.m. Wednesday at the Novo-Diveevo convent located at 100 Smith Road, Clarkstown police Det. Peter Walker said.  Officials were altered to the fire by a woman in the cottage who smelled smoke and called 911. No one was injured, Walker said.  Fire departments on scene included the lead Spring Valley, and Nanuet, Hillcrest, and West Haverstraw. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
