Man From Region Sexually Abuses Young Child, Police Say
A 52-year-old man from the region is facing charges after allegedly sexually abusing a young child. Columbia County resident Robert Schaefer, of Ghent, was arrested Monday, Sept. 18, by New York State Police. According to troopers, Schaefer sexually abused a victim under the age of 11. Investigators did not elaborate on his relationship to the alleged victim. Schaefer is charged with felony sexual abuse and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in Kinderhook Court, where a judge ordered him held at the Columbia County jail on $5,000 cash bail.

Armed Standoff: 28-Year-Old Apprehended After Hours-Long Incident In Town Of Poughkeepsie
A 28-year-old Hudson Valley man was apprehended after an hours-long standoff with police. The incident began in Dutchess County around 9 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 21 Pleasant View Road in the town of Poughkeepsie. Just after 9 a.m., a deputy from the Sheriff’s Office’s Civil Division went to the home of Shawn R. Magliocchino in Poughkeepsie for the purpose of serving an eviction warrant, said Capt. Man Sentenced For Having Sex With Minor In Hudson Valley
A man was sentenced to four years in prison after admitting that he traveled to Westchester County to have sex with a 15-year-old. Christopher Nunez, age 27, of Florida, received the maximum sentence allowed Tuesday, July 12, after previously pleading guilty to third-degree rape, a felony. Nunez admitted to traveling from his home in Miami to North Salem in May 2021 to engage in sexual activity with the teen, according to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. Man Accused Of Committing Sexual Crimes Against A Child In Area, Police Say
A 47-year-old man has been arrested for sexual crimes against a child. Orange County resident Chad Volpe, of Otisville, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 6, by New York State Police following an investigation of sexual conduct with a child, said Trooper Steven Nevel. According to Nevel, Volpe has been charged with felony crimes of: Course of sexual conduct against a child Criminal sexual act Sexual abuse Volpe was arraigned by City of Newburgh Judge Peter Culkin and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.

A woman was arrested for alleged felony DWI Leandra's Law in Rockland County after police received calls of a possible intoxicated driver. The incident took place around 5:40 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 28, when Ramapo Police responded to the call regarding the motorists on the Orange Turnpike in the Village of Sloatsburg. Man Accused Of Groping 11-Year-Old, Sharing Porn With 16-Year-Old In Area
A pair of investigations into alleged sexual assault led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man who allegedly had inappropriate contact with two minors, groping one of them and sharing porn with another. It is alleged that last year, Roger Wong, of Monticello, inappropriately touched an 11-year-old girl in Monticello, according to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office. A convicted felon has been put behind bars after police say he was caught with an assault rifle in Northern Westchester. Yorktown Police say officers responded to a report of a domestic incident at an East Main Street residence on Sunday, July 7 around 6 p.m. The on-scene investigation revealed that Michael Mosher, 38, of Yorktown caused more than $1,000 in damages to a flat screen television by throwing it to the ground, police say.
