Task Force Bust: Poughkeepsie Man Nabbed With Drugs, Police Say A Hudson Valley man has been charged with alleged criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell following an investigation by an area drug task force. Dutchess County resident Alonzo Newman, age 35, of the city of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Friday, Sept. 1, in Poughkeepsie. Newman was arrested following a warrant search at his home related to ongoing narcotic sales in the Poughkeepsie area, said Det. State Trooper Suffers Opioid Exposure After Overdose Crash On NY Highway, Police Say A New York State Police trooper was hospitalized for possible opioid exposure while responding to a suspected overdose crash on a state highway. State Police on Long Island were initially called at around 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, with reports of an erratic driver in Hempstead, heading southbound on the Wantagh State Parkway near Hempstead Turnpike. When troopers arrived, they found the vehicle disabled after a crash. Man, Woman Charged For Midnight Burglary In Hudson Valley A man and woman from the area were charged with burglary after allegedly being caught inside an occupied Northern Westchester home to remove items inside. The incident took place in Yorktown around midnight on Thursday, April 21. Poughkeepsie Man Nabbed With Crack During Traffic Stop, Police Say A 46-year-old man has been arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance. Darius Wood was arrested on Tuesday, April 27 following a traffic stop in the City of Poughkeepsie, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks. According to Hicks, at approximately 7 p.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2009 Honda for a violation on North White Street. During the stop, troopers found that Wood was in possession of 1.2 grams of crack cocaine. Wood, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and released on his own recognizance.
