These Area Towns Rank Highest Upstate For Longest Commutes
Some area residents have among the longest commutes in the state, according to a newly released report. Using data from the U.S. Census, NewYorkUpstate.com compiled the municipalities with the most “super commuters,” a number which has risen 31.7 percent since 2005. According to the report, researchers used "mean travel time to work" data from the U.S. Census, NewYorkUpstate.com ranked the top 50 upstate New York towns, cities and villages where residents have the longest commutes. Round Of Snow Could Make For Slippery Morning Commute

Wednesday, Jan. 2 will be partly sunny with a high in the upper-30s and a wind-chill factor between 30 and 35 degrees. Flooding On Four Westchester Parkways, I-684 Crash Snarl Evening Commute
This story has been updated. The Tuesday evening commute was a crawl for many in the area after a day filled with showers, heavy rain and flooding. Stretches of four of the most traveled parkways in the area were closed late Tuesday afternoon due to flooding and a crash on northbound I-684 blocked two lanes for about an hour. The I-684 crash was northbound at Route 35 (Exit 6) in Katonah with stop-and-go delays to Route 172 (Exit 4) through the late afternoon. This story has been updated. A serious crash with multiple injuries caused gridlock on a stretch of I-684 during much of the Tuesday evening commute. The northbound crash occurred at the merger to the Saw Mill River Parkway in Bedford, with delays to Route 172 (Exit 4).

Stop-Go Delays On I-684 At I-84 After Serious Crash
This story has been updated. Separate crashes caused stop-and-go delays on I-684 during the Tuesday evening commute. A crash reported at 6 p.m. at Route 22 (Exit 3) in Armonk led to stop-and-go traffic back to Route 120 (Exit 2). An earlier crash caused stop-and-go delays on northbound I-684 at the junction of I-84 during part of the commute. The crash, reported at 4:30 p.m. in Brewster, caused gridlock back to Hardscrabble Road. Delays of 20 minutes or more were reported.

Snow Showers Will Be Followed By Heavy Rain, Chance Of Flooding
There could be some slick conditions during the Friday evening commute with light snow and snow showers now falling in parts of the area.Little or no accumulation is expected. A new storm system will move through the area late Saturday afternoon through Sunday night, but temperatures will be warm enough -- in the upper 40s during the day and lower 40s at night -- to ensure all rain will fall. Rain will change to a wintry mix around midnight, followed by snow showers and snow as the overnight low dips to the mid-20s. An inch or less of accumulation is possible. The chance for snow will end around 9 a.m. Friday. Skies will gradually clear with some sun in the afternoon and a high temperature struggling to reach the freezing mark.
