Using data from the U.S. Census, NewYorkUpstate.com compiled the municipalities with the most “super commuters,” a number which has risen 31.7 percent since 2005. The Tuesday evening commute was a crawl for many in the area after a day filled with showers, heavy rain and flooding. Stretches of four of the most traveled parkways in the area were closed late Tuesday afternoon due to flooding and a crash on northbound I-684 blocked two lanes for about an hour. A crash reported at 6 p.m. at Route 22 (Exit 3) in Armonk led to stop-and-go traffic back to Route 120 (Exit 2). An earlier crash caused stop-and-go delays on northbound I-684 at the junction of I-84 during part of the commute. The crash, reported at 4:30 p.m. in Brewster, caused gridlock back to Hardscrabble Road. Delays of 20 minutes or more were reported.
