American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Region
An American Airlines flight to Boston was forced to make an emergency landing in Albany. Flight 4716, operating under the airline’s regional brand American Eagle, was enroute from Indianapolis when it experienced an electrical issue at around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23. A potent, late autumn storm that pounded the region has turned deadly after a woman was killed by floodwaters. Emergency crews in Greene County were called at around 10:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, for a vehicle submerged in floodwater in Catskill, near Cauterskill Road. For the fourth time this year, security screeners stopped a man from carrying a loaded gun onto a plane at Albany International Airport. Agents made the discovery during a routine x-ray screening of the traveler’s carry-on bag Tuesday, Aug. 15, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced. Work is underway on a massive improvement project at Albany International Airport aimed at providing a better experience for travelers. Gov. Kathy Hochul was at the airport Thursday, Aug. 10, to announce the awarding of $60 million in state funds that will go toward modernizing entranceways, expanding the security area, and adding more seating and concessions areas, among other improvements. 'Stiff Penalty' For Traveler Caught With Loaded Gun At Airport In Region
Security screeners stopped a man from carrying a loaded gun onto a plane at an airport in the region. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers made the discovery Monday, June 19, at Albany International Airport, the agency announced. During a routine X-ray screening, the Troy man was found to have a loaded .380 caliber gun inside his duffle bag along with his clothing. Power Outage At Albany International Airport Delays Flights
Operations at Albany International Airport came grinding to a halt due to a power outage. At around 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, May 23, the main terminal experienced a total power failure that lasted roughly two hours, according to airport spokesperson Doug Myers. A Capital Region man is heading to federal prison for attempting to bring a loaded handgun onto a plane at Albany International Airport. Josef Jarvis, age 32, of Albany, was sentenced to nearly four years behind bars Thursday, April 28, after pleading guilty to illegally carrying a firearm as a felon. Federal prosecutors said Jarvis admitted to possessing the loaded gun and ammunition while attempting to pass through a security checkpoint before boarding a flight in August 2021.
