Police: Woman Made $3K In Purchases With Credit Card Stolen From Town Of Poughkeepsie Resident

A two-month investigation into identity theft in Dutchess County led to the arrest of a 20-year-old woman who allegedly stole the credit card information of an area resident and stole thousands of dollars, police said.

Officers from the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department arrested local resident Kaihla Thompson on Oct. 25, following the investigation into the alleged identity theft.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Thompson used the stolen credit card information that belonged to a Poughkeepsie resident and made fraudulent purchases for more than $3,000.

Thompson was arrested and charged with felony counts of identity theft and grand larceny. Following her arraignment, she was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond bail. She is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
