DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Rosario Scavelli, a part-time Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff, has been terminated from his position by the county following an arrest by federal agents.

John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office confirmed Scavelli's arrest but referred all details to the Department of Homeland Security. After being reached by Daily Voice late early Monday afternoon, the Department of Homeland Society said it would not be able to immediately release information on Scavelli's arrest.

Scavelli had been with the sheriff's office since 2008.
