Carpenter, born in Yonkers to the late Robert and Lorraine (Lowe) Carpenter, was employed by Wheelabrator in Poughkeepsie as a mechanic. He enjoyed working on cars, reading history and fishing.
He is survived by his fiancé Gina M. Taddeo; son, William Carpenter Jr.; sisters, Mildred Delgado (Joe); Cathy Walker (Bob); brother, Robert Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave. Services will be conducted during the visitation and burial will be private.
