Marie A. Egan, 64, Poughkeepsie Resident

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie resident Marie A. Egan died Sunday, Jan. 10. She was 64.

Born in the Bronx, Egan worked many years for Vassar Brothers Hospital in critical care and as director of education and training. She also worked for Dr. Glenn Gerber at Poughkeepsie Medical Group, at St. Francis Hospital and for Dutchess NY Connects as a public health nurse.

Egan was a member of Mount Carmel Church, was an avid cook and enjoyed traveling, photography and the New York Mets.

She is survived by her life partner, Dolores Hignell; daughter Sarah Hignell of Poughkeepsie; brothers Michael Egan and his wife Eva May of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and Edward Egan of Rock Hill, S.C.; her sister, Carolyn Pesackis and her husband John of Wilmington, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Egan was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Keller Egan; brother Father Tony Egan; and sister Margaret "Meg" Silvoy.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. n Saturday, Jan. 16, at Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
