The Saratoga County incident happened aboard a South Glens Falls High School bus that was transporting students home on Friday afternoon, May 10.

Britney Shaffer said her 15-year-old daughter, Bella, was riding on the bus with her boyfriend when a 16-year-old girl became “enraged” that a student’s feet were in the aisle as she was trying to exit.

Angered, the 16-year-old reportedly used her 32-ounce, stainless steel Stanley cup to first hit Bella’s boyfriend in the head.

“Then my daughter stepped up to confront the attacker,” Shaffer said on Facebook. “The attacker then swung her Stanley full force into my daughter's face which resulted in a broken bloody mess on the school bus.”

Photos show the teen with blood on her face and clothing. Shaffer said her daughter suffered a broken nose and a laceration to her nostril.

“I’m disgusted. Angry,” she said, adding that the attack is the latest in a series of physical assaults that her daughter has suffered at South Glens Falls schools over the past three years. Despite reporting the incidents to both administrators and police, nothing has been done, she claimed.

“This is unacceptable,” she said. “The violence MUST end! Something must be done.”

In the days since the attack, hundreds of dollars have been raised on a GoFundMe campaign meant to help the family with medical bills and to hire an attorney ahead of a possible lawsuit against the school district.

“I am so sorry, daughter. Justice will be served,” Shaffer said on Facebook.

It was not immediately clear whether the teen suspect had been arrested or otherwise punished as of Monday, May 13.

Daily Voice has reached out to the South Glens Falls Central School District and the police department for comment.
