Dutchess County Earthquake Update: No Injuries, Damage

This morning, the effects of a 4.8-magnitude earthquake originating in New Jersey were felt across the Hudson Valley and beyond, including in Dutchess County.

Original report: 4.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits New York, Northeast

At this time, no injuries or damage throughout the county have been reported to the 911 Communications Center. Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino said.

Serino said Dutchess County Emergency Response is monitoring the situation and has been in contact with state and federal authorities and communicating with local municipalities.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, Dutchess County Public Works, and other county departments have been assessing roadways, buildings, and other infrastructure for possible damage, Serino added.

"911 has been inundated with calls this morning," she said. "Please only call 911 for an actual emergency situation. Please do not call with questions or for status updates."
