Goshen Man Wanted For Child Sex Assault, Flees, Drives Car Into River A Hudson Valley man who was wanted on alleged child sex charges fled from police, drove his vehicle into a river, and then hid from officers. The incident took place in Orange County around 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24 in Goshen. According to Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police, state police attempted to execute a search warrant at the home of Orange County resident Craig Merlock, age 45, of Goshen, who was not at home. Person Kills Self At Orange County Preserve, Body Found By Hiker, Police Say The body of an unidentified person who police say committed suicide was discovered by a hiker in a popular Hudson Valley nature preserve. The body was discovered in Orange County in Hamptonburgh in the Hamptonburgh Preserve around 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25 at the eastern bank of the Wallkill River at the end of the Hamptonburgh Trail, said Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police. Troopers responded and conducted an investigation, Nevel said. No foul play is suspected.

The incident took place in Orange County around 8:15 a.m., Monday, Oct. 23 on I-84 in Maybrook. Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police said Jean P. Fisherman Finds Body In Wallkill River, State Police Say An investigation is underway after a local fisherman discovered a body in an area river, according to state police. Police received the report at about 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22. The fisherman located the body of an unknown man in the Wallkill River at the Midway Road Overpass, state police said.  An initial investigation shows no signs of foul play, police said.  The body has not been identified and was transported to the Orange County Morgue for an autopsy scheduled on Thursday, April 23.  There is an ongoing investigation.
