Found: Orange County Woman, Age 28, Had Been Missing Since July
A 28-year-old Hudson Valley woman who went missing nine-and-a-half months ago has been found.
Orange County resident Heather Callas, of Port Jervis, a mother of three who was reported missing Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, by her mother, had not been seen or heard from since Saturday, July 2.
Callas left voluntarily and was believed to have traveled to New York City, according to the Port Jervis Police Department.
On Friday, April 14, the Port Jervis PD announced Callas was located Thursday evening, April 13.
"She is safe and is no longer missing," the department said.

Missing Orange County Woman Found Dead, Police Say
A missing Hudson Valley woman who police have spent hundreds of hours searching for has been found dead in a wooded area.
Orange County resident, Brittany Hendershot, age 19, of Port Jervis, has been missing since Thursday, June 23, but was officially reported missing to police on Tuesday, July 5 by her mother.
Following the missing person's report, the Port Jervis Police Department initiated an investigation which revealed that Brittany was last seen in the Town of Wallkill, said Chief William Worden, of the Port Jervis Police.

1 Dead, 2 Hospitalized After 4-Vehicle Crash In Area
A 26-year-old man was killed during a multi-vehicle crash in the Hudson Valley.
It happened in Orange County around 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14 in the town of Wallkill, on Schutt Road.
According to detectives, when officers arrived on the scene, they found a 26-year-old New Windsor resident lying on the ground unconscious and unresponsive.
Officers immediately began life-saving measures, including CPR, police said.
The victim was transported to Garnet Health Center in Middletown by EMS where he was pronounced dead, police added.

One Killed In Head-On Crash On Orange County Roadway, State Police Say
Police are investigating a fatal head-on crash on a busy roadway in the region.
It happened at around 10:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25 in Orange County on Route 211 in the Town of Wallkill.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 1996 Ford Ranger was traveling eastbound and a 2007 Scion TC traveling west on 211 were involved, state police said.
The operator of the Scion, Orange County resident Victor L. Hernandez, age 56, from the city of Middletown was pronounced dead at the scene, said police.

Man Charged With Burglary, Assaulting Two People In Orange County
A 39-year-old man was arrested after allegedly burglarizing a home and threatening two residents in the area.
Orange County resident Carl Wilson, 39, of the Town of Wallkill, was arrested around 7:42 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 5, after police responded to a report of a burglary in progress on Mud Mills Road, said the Town of Wallkill Police.
Once on the scene, officers found that Wilson had allegedly forcefully entered the home and demanded personal items and money from two residents inside, police said.
He then proceeded to assault the two, which resulted in minor injuries, police added.

Man Killed After Car Crashes, Rolls On Front Lawn Of Orange County Home
A 71-year-old man was killed during a single-vehicle crash that sent his car rolling and landing in the front lawn of a home in the area.
Giusino Rende, of Middletown, was killed around 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, after his white 2018 Subaru Forester crashed and rolled, landing in a front lawn of a Town of Wallkill home, said State Police Trooper Steven Nevel.
According to Nevel, a preliminary investigation found that Rende was driving east on Silver-Scotchtown Road when his vehicle traveled off the right shoulder, hitting a guardrail.

A 27-year-old man pleaded guilty to assault in connection with a slashing of a man outside an area bar.
Barry Cooper, of Middletown, pleaded guilty on Thursday, Nov. 21, in connection with Sept. 21, slashing of a man outside of a bar in the Town of Wallkill, said the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
At the time Cooper pleaded guilty, he admitted having slashed the victim in the face with a sharp-edged object at about 3:30 a.m., outside a closed bar on Route 211, the DA's Office said.

Police nabbed two men for alleged possession of 110 bags of heroin, 13 THC vape pens, and pot following a traffic stop.
Johnnie K. Johnson Jr., 26, of the Town of Wallkill, and Gillbert R. Rodriguez, 27, of Middletown, were arrested on Monday, July 1, after they were stopped in the parking lot of the Claremont Condominium at 240 Schutt Road, said the Town of Wallkill Police.
