Hudson Valley Man, 24, Dies Suddenly While Visiting Caribbean, Family Says A 24-year-old man from the region has died unexpectedly while visiting the Caribbean. Dutchess County resident Jeffrey Kiluba, of Red Hook, died on Saturday, Oct. 7 during a brief holiday in the Dominican Republic, said his brother Tim Kiluba on GoFundMe. A volunteer firefighter at the Red Hook Fire Company, Kiluba was last heard from on Friday, Oct. 6, expressing excitement to see mom and dad again on Sunday, Tim Kiluba said. New Officer Joins Wallkill Police Force The Wallkill Police Department is welcoming a new recruit into its ranks. Officials welcomed their newest police officer, Giovanni Laguna recently, who was sworn in last month and is currently attending the police academy in SUNY Ulster. Following his graduation from the police academy, Laguna will train with a law enforcement Field Training Officer before making his way onto the force in Wallkill.
