Woman From Region Charged With Making A Threat Of Mass Harm Against School A woman from the region has been charged with allegedly making a threat of mass harm after she threatened to blow up a middle school. The incident occurred in Sullivan County around 5:20 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 22 in the village of Liberty. According to Chief Steven D'Agata of the Liberty Police Department, Chiffvon Steele, age 42, of Liberty, commented to staff at Liberty Middle School that she would  “blow this [expletive] place up." Man From Region Arrested 4 Times In 2-Week Span For Stalking, Police say A man from the region was arrested four times in two weeks for allegedly stalking and harassing an employee of a local bank. Sullivan County resident Jhakem Degroat, age 31, of Monticello was arrested for the fourth time in Liberty on Friday, Oct. 13, said Chief Steven D’Agata of the Liberty Police. Officers Bravely Rescue 2 Dogs Trapped In Culvert In Region A barking dog for two hours led police in the region to two dogs that were stuck in an underground culvert box. The incident took place in Sullivan County around 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 29 in the village of Liberty. According to Liberty Police Chief, Steven D'Agata, officers followed the parking to an underground box running along Edgar Street. Woman From Region Charged After 2-Year-Old Airlifted With Serious Injuries A woman from the region is facing criminal charges after a toddler was found bleeding in a bathroom. In Sullivan County, Village of Liberty Police were called to a home at around 6 p.m. Sunday, May 29, with reports of a two-year-old child bleeding uncontrollably from his leg, according to police. When officers arrived, they found the boy suffering from two large lacerations to his leg and immediately began applying pressure to try and stop the bleeding, police said. Man Accused Of Helping His Wife Die By Suicide In Area A man from the area has been arrested and charged with manslaughter for allegedly helping his wife commit suicide. Sullivan County resident Kenneth Alger III, age 38, of Liberty, was arrested in March after his wife's body was found in a cemetery in Liberty. Alger was indicted by a grand jury for manslaughter that alleged around Tuesday, Feb. 28, he intentionally "caused and aided Amanda Alger, age 31, his wife, to commit suicide," the indictment said.
