Weekday Route 6/202 Closure Scheduled Motorists planning to travel on Route 6 in Northern Westchester will be detoured for two weeks as crews work to replace a guard rail in the area. The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert advising that Route 6/202 (Bear Mountain Bridge Road) will be closed in each direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, April 5 in Cortlandt. Road closures will continue on weekdays through Friday, April 16 between Route 9D and Route 9 to allow crews to replace the guide rail. Drones Used To Rescue Stranded Hikers Near Breakneck Ridge The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office turned to technology to help rescue two hikers who found themselves in a precarious position near Breakneck Ridge in Philipstown. Two hikers called the Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, June 9, after becoming stranded on a steep precipice approximately a half mile south from Breakneck Ridge, Sheriff Robert Langley Jr. said.  The Cold Spring Fire Department and New York State Park Police located the hikers at approximately 5 p.m., but were unable to rescue them due to the terrain. Man Nabbed In Area Shop Rite Robbery A 28-year-old man was arrested for robbery and assault after attacking a Shop Rite employee who attempted to stop him from stealing. Antonio Locket of Poughkeepsie was arrested around Friday, Aug. 10, after Town of Poughkeepsie officers responded to the Shop Rite at 1895 South Road for a report of a shoplifter, said Town of Poughkeepsie Lt. Brian Wagner. While officers were en route to the store it was reported that Locket had threatened an employee by brandishing a knife, Wagner said.
