Anticipating at least 70 asylum seekers being sent to a hotel in their area, another Hudson Valley government has declared a State of Emergency. Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus declared a State of Emergency for the county late on Monday, May 8, in response to New York City’s proposed plan to send asylum seekers to be temporarily housed at motels in the town of Newburgh. Rockland County officials have announced two new orders associated with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) that adjust rules for essential healthcare workers and outlines rules for those under quarantine.
