Road Closure: Busy Rockland Roadway Shut Down Due To Crash A busy Hudson Valley roadway is closed due to a crash that brought down a utility pole. The crash took place in Rockland County early Monday morning, Feb. 27 when a vehicle struck a utility pole on Route 202 in Ramapo. Ramapo Police said the roadway is closed from Route 306 to Camphill Road. Orange and Rockland Utility are on the scene,  Route 202 is expected to be closed for an extended period of time, police said.  This is a developing story. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Video: Tree Limb Crashes Onto Wires On Route 306 Amid Gusty Winds After Storm Route 306 had to be temporarily closed in Ramapo during the wind storm when a tree limb crashed onto wires, sending sparks flying. On Thursday, Oct. 17, the Ramapo Police Department closed Route 306 between Viola Road and Fessler Drive while Orange and Rockland Utility crews made repairs to wires that were arching after a tree limb toppled them. The incident caused outages in the area for approximately 30 minutes while the repairs were being made. Wind gusts of nearly 60 mph sent tree limbs flying and toppled power lines throughout the area. Alert Issued For O&R Bill Payment Scam Fraudsters don’t take summer vacations. Orange and Rockland Utility issued an alert on Tuesday warning the public of a phony bill payment scheme that has been making the rounds, where scammers pose as company representatives and call customers, demanding immediate payment before service is shut down. According to Orange and Rockland officials, “unsuspecting utility customers across the nation, most recently at in O&R’s service territory, have been bilked by these bogus claims by crooks who insist on payment the day of the contact.” Officials said that both Spanish and English speaking…

More Than 2K Lose Power In Overnight Orange County Outage Power has been restored to more than 2,000 Orange and Rockland Utility customers following an overnight outage when a fuse was blown at a substation. More than 2,000 outages were reported at approximately 9 a.m. in Goshen and Florida. Two hours later, just a handful of outages were still reported, with an estimated time of restoration no later than 2:15 p.m. to all customers. An official said that power was restored to the area by diverting power from areas not affected by the outage. Law enforcement officials have issued an alert warning of a new scam where fraudsters pose as consultants for the utility company who offer to help customers pay their debt, written in Spanish on Facebook.
