Fatal Crash Causes Hourslong Closure Of PIP Stretch

A stretch of the Palisades Interstate Parkway was closed for several hours Thursday evening following a serious crash involving an overturned car with multiple injuries reported. The southbound crash occurred between Exit 11 (New Hempstead Road) and Exit 10 (North Middletown Road) with stopped traffic stretching back to Exit 12 (Route 45).

Woman Seriously Injured In Route 45 Crash
A head-on crash that closed Route 45 for several hours seriously injured a 67-year-old Hillcrest woman. The crash happened around 8 a.m. Tuesday on Route 45 just north of New Hempstead Road when a 31-year-old Haverstraw man driving a 1997 Ford Econoline work van crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a 2010 Toyota Corolla, said Ramapo Police. The Hillcrest Fire Department responded to the scene and extricated the female from her vehicle. Serious Palisades Parkway Crash Causes Closure
A single-vehicle rollover crash on the Palisades Parkway near new Hempstead Road has been cleared and backed up traffic, is moving again, according to New York State Police. The crash, which occurred around 8:08 a.m., Friday, near Exit 11, slightly injured one person and backed up traffic for at least a half-hour as the road was briefly closed to remove the vehicle, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Motorists should expect delays.
