Kmart is largely gone but not forgotten in one New York community, which boasts one of just four locations still standing in the US. Shoppers in Westchester County will have a new wholesale club to shop with the addition of BJ's. Town of Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner announced on Monday, Jan. 31, the wholesale club would be opening in the old Kmart space at the Crossroads Shopping Center. Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace in Yorktown has applied with the town to move into the large space provided by the former Food Emporium located in Yorktown Green. One of the most prominent vacant commercial sites in Northern Westchester could be getting a multi-million dollar facelift to transform it into a massive mixed-use building.
