ID Released For Man Killed In Rockland House Fire
A man who died during an early morning fire in Rockland County has been identified.
Michael Mantell, 75, of Nanuet, died around 6:20 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, during a fire at his home at 27 Amarillo Drive, said the Clarkstown Police Department.
When police officers arrived on the scene, they found the front part of the house engulfed in smoke and flames.
The officers were unable to gain entry to search the home due to the flames, police said.
Following the fire, Mantell was removed from the home by fire personnel and pronounced dead by medical personnel, police said.

Three people were hospitalized overnight when a fire broke out and tore through a Putnam County home, officials said.
Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Feb. 18, first responders were dispatched to Oak Road West in Lake Secor, when a fire ravaged a one-story home, Jack Casey, spokesman for the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department, said.

Two men and a woman from Dutchess County have been identified as the victims of a horrific crash when their vehicle rammed into a tree and landed on the front porch of a home earlier this week.
John A. Perry, 46, and Kelly L. Perry, 40, both of Stanford, and Michael V. Lasher, 35, of LaGrange, died around 10:45 p.m. Monday, when the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer in which they crashed into a tree on Route 82, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks.
