Man Clinging To Branch After Trying To Save Dog Rescued From Croton River A simple walk with his dog turned into a nightmare for a man who ended up clinging to a tree branch to keep from drowning in the rushing water of the Croton River. The man became stranded while chasing his dog who ran into the water in the Croton Gorge Park section of the river around 7 p.m. Wednesday, said the Croton Fire Department on Facebook.
