These Area Towns Rank Highest Upstate For Longest Commutes Some area residents have among the longest commutes in the state, according to a newly released report. Using data from the U.S. Census, NewYorkUpstate.com compiled the municipalities with the most “super commuters,” a number which has risen 31.7 percent since 2005. According to the report, researchers used "mean travel time to work" data from the U.S. Census, NewYorkUpstate.com ranked the top 50 upstate New York towns, cities and villages where residents have the longest commutes. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the entire region from noon Wednesday, Feb. 20 until 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21. Rain will change to a wintry mix around midnight, followed by snow showers and snow as the overnight low dips to the mid-20s. An inch or less of accumulation is possible. The chance for snow will end around 9 a.m. Friday. Skies will gradually clear with some sun in the afternoon and a high temperature struggling to reach the freezing mark.
