Police In Hudson Valley Use Force To Control Man Who Threatened To Shoot People, Cops Say Police are reporting using force against a man who allegedly threatened to shoot people on a major roadway in the region. The incident occurred in Dutchess County on Sunday, April 21, on Main Street in Beacon. According to Lt. Thomas Figlia of the Beacon Police, officers responded to a call for a man wearing gray sweatpants, a grey hoodie, and sunglasses who was threatening to shoot people on Main Street. Man Killed, Officer Injured In Head-On Area Crash, Police Say A 49-year-old man was killed and an officer injured during a two-vehicle head-on crash. It happened in Dutchess County shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, in Beacon. Derron E. Holmes, of Beacon, was killed in the crash involving a Subaru Outback and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. According to Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson, of the Beacon Police Department, Holmes was driving the Subaru in the area of Fishkill Avenue in Beacon, when he collided head-on with the Jeep. Area Man Threatening To Set His Vehicle On Fire Surrenders, Police Say A man was taken to an area hospital for observation after calling the police and telling them he was sitting in a vehicle doused with gasoline and explosives. The incident took place around 1 a.m., Sunday, April 11, on Main Street in the City of Beacon, said Detective Sergeant Jason Johnson of the City of Beacon Police Department. According to Johnson, the 64-year man called Dutchess County 911 and stated that he was sitting in his vehicle doused in gasoline with explosives and a loaded firearm.  He also threatened to use them if anyone approached, Johnson said.  …

Man, Woman Charged In Connection With Home Burglary A man and woman have been arrested and charged in connection with a home burglary in the area. Troopers responded to Bower Road in the town of Pleasant Valley for a report of a burglary on Tuesday, Jan. 29.  An investigation found 21-year-old Christian Rivera of Wappinger illegally entered a residence and stole multiple items including an LG television, Xbox console, Amazon Fire tablet, a watch, and a gold necklace, state police said.
