Former College Athlete In Hudson Valley To Compete On Food Network Show A Long Island woman who is pretty famous for her cookies on Instagram will appear tonight on the Food Network's Christmas Cookie Challenge. "I'm feeling all the emotions today - nervous, excited, anxious but also really proud," Mount Sinai native Emily Solomos said on Instagram on Thursday, Dec. 9.  But don't think baking cookies is her career. Solomos, age 24, works in marketing, and making cookies and selling them is just a hobby. Former Baker At Reader’s Digest Turns 104 Josephine DeSilva, a Fairfield County resident and former baker at Reader’s Digest in Northern Westchester, is celebrating her 104th birthday at Bethel Nursing Home. DeSilva has resided at Bethel Nursing Home in Ossining since 2016. She is the oldest of 12 children and worked as a baker for Reader’s Digest. DeSilva and her husband, Manuel raised their family in Pleasantville before he passed away. She is the mother to Josephine of Briarcliff Manor and Manuel of New Hampshire (deceased). Hudson Valley Girl Competes In Food Network Baking Competition A 12-year-old Westchester girl will be competing in a Food Network baking show. Nyah Rosado is competing on Season 6 of "Kids Baking Championship," airing Monday, Jan. 7. The student at Albert Leonard Middle School in New Rochelle describes herself as very competitive, playing basketball, lacrosse and soccer. If she wins, Nyah wants a tattoo that says she won Kids Baking Championship. She and 11 other junior bakers will be judged and hosted by Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman.
