Residents who register for the dealer school will be provided with 20 hours of training per week for a minimum of six weeks in core games such as blackjack, poker, baccarat and roulette. All table game classes are free of charge.
“This is a monumental day for not only Orange County but the entire region,” Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus said. “The long-anticipated arrival of Resorts World Catskills is quickly approaching. As part of our ongoing commitment to job creation and retention, the County has made a significant investment in the casino dealer school at Stewart Airport. I am glad that one of these schools is in Orange County and I encourage interested residents to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Additional training will be required for more complex games. Once training is successfully completed, students can apply, and will then have to interview and audition for table game dealer positions.
Resorts World Catskills expects to hire approximately 600 dealers prior to opening its doors to the public in March 2018. The casino is part of a $1.2 billion four-season destination resort being developed in the Town of Thompson in Sullivan County.
The 4,500-square foot casino dealer school is conveniently located and is part of a County bus route that serves the City of Newburgh.
The dealer school will have an open house every Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. People interested in becoming a table-game dealer are encouraged to visit for more information. Anyone wishing to enroll in the Resorts World Dealer School can do so by sending an email to deal@rwcatskills.com.
