Kiryas Joel's Split With Monroe Could Mean Huge Loss In Tax Revenue

MONROE, N.Y. – If Kiryas Joel breaks away from Monroe, the Town could see a net tax revenue loss of up to $1.9 million, according to the Times Herald-Record.

Accountants from the Newburgh office of RBT CPAs held the forum to better educate residents about the proposed split of Kiryas Joel from Monroe to form the Town of Palm Tree. The biggest hit in net tax revenues would come from property and mortgage taxes, the Record reported. 

Monroe residents will vote on the proposed split on Nov. 7.
