Orange County Earthquake Update: No Damage Reported

Officials in Orange County say all is well after a 4.8 magnitude earthquake shook the region Friday morning, April 5.

Original report: 4.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits New York, Northeast

The US Geological Survey said the quake occurred at 10:23 a.m., measured a 4.8 on the Richter scale, and had a depth of 0.62 miles. It reportedly originated in Hunterdon County, New Jersey about 60 miles west of midtown Manhattan.

County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus said Orange County Emergency Services is in contact with the New York State and local municipalities, and damage assessments are being conducted.

So far, no damage has been reported.
