Hochul Provides Update On Wildfires In Hudson Valley As the wildfires continue to burn across the Hudson Valley, Gov. Kathy Hochul updated what's being done to mitigate and contain them. On Tuesday, Nov. 12, Hochul said a multi-agency response had been deployed to fires in Orange and Ulster counties in close coordination with local fire departments and first responders.  According to Hochul, an aerial investigation shows the Orange County fire named the Jennings Creek/Sterling State Park wildfire in New York and New Jersey now encompasses 5,000 acres, half of which is in New York, and is 10 percent contained in both states. Car Bursts Into Flames At Gas Station In Somers Thanks to the quick action of firefighters, a car blaze was prevented from spreading to fuel pumps at a Northern Westchester gas station.  The incident happened on Saturday, Nov. 11 just after 11 a.m., when members of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department were sent to a Sunoco gas station at 253 Route 100, where a car had gone up in flames next to the building.  According to the department, firefighters quickly arrived and put out the blaze, keeping it from spreading to the gas pumps.  After around an hour, crews left the scene and went back into service. Dusty Bathroom Fan Causes Smoke to Pour From Northern Westchester Home Fire crews were called to a Northern Westchester home after a debris-covered bathroom fan caused smoke to pour out of the residence. The incident happened on Thursday, Oct. 19 around 7 p.m., when the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department responded to a home in the Harmon section of the village for a report of smoke coming from the ceiling of a residence. According to the department, arriving crews confirmed that the smoke was coming from a bathroom in the residence.
