Westchester native Carolyn Petroccione Aurand died after a long illness on Saturday, Nov. 18. She was 42.

She was born on April 16, 1975 and grew up in Somers, where she attended John F Kennedy High School. Carolyn graduated from the University of Virginia where she earned her BS in Psychology. Upon graduation, she secured her first position with BBDO in Manhattan.

In 2002, Carolyn decided to make a change and moved to Atlanta. Throughout her career, she worked in various marketing positions with EarthLink, Intercontinental Hotels Group, and TSYS. With her love of learning, she was accepted to the Goizueta Business School at Emory University and proceeded to earn a triple-major MBA.

She is survived by her beloved husband Tim, her loving parents John and Susan Petroccione, her devoted brother, John Petroccione and his children, Jack, Luke and Shane and her in-laws, Gary Aurand, Nicole Pulz (Kristian) and Trent Aurand (Lisa) and their children, Trent, Jr. and Taylor.

Carolyn’s passionate love of horses began as a toddler and lasted throughout her lifetime. She rode out of Falcon Ridge Stables, which became the center of Carolyn’s and Tim’s social life.

Carolyn loved competing, first with her “engagement” horse, Pirouette, a gift from her husband, and later with her beloved Moose. In 2014, she won a Georgia State Hunter Jumper Points Championship and in 2015, she earned an invitation to compete at the prestigious Devon Horse Show. Carolyn loved all animals and she and Tim shared their home with three rescue dogs, Cooper, Cinder and Dash.

Carolyn’s parents will be receiving visitors at their home in Somers on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in Marietta, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carolyn’s name to Pegasus Therapeutic Riding .
