SOMERS, N.Y. -- Susan Haas will be the featured artist at the Somers Library during December.

Haas will focus her exhibit on winter photography and will attend an opening reception on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Her work reflects an intimate insight and intense love of nature. She has been a member of the Putnam Arts Council and was selected to participate in the juried show benefiting the Great Swamp of Putnam, a nature preservation fundraiser for FrOGS.

Haas has held private, one-artist exhibits (displaying about 65 pieces per show) throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts and various locations in New York, including the libraries of Somers, Mahopac and East Fishkill; she rotates locations to offer one or two shows per season.

Her works feature unusual glimpses of nature and country life. She also participated in the juried statewide show in Albany. Haas' chosen mediums for her works are photography, pencil and especially oils. Her photography captures the beauty throughout the Northeast and Nova Scotia.

The Somers Library Art Gallery is open during normal library hours. Call the library for additional viewing times in the program room at 914-232-5717.
