Hudson Valley Man Admits To Burning Cat, Kitten To Death An Orange County man has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and bail-jumping after he burned a kitten and a cat to death in a cage. Dee Jay Atkins, 55, pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated cruelty to animals and second-degree bail jumping, confirmed the Orange County District Attorney's Office.  During his plea, Atkins admitted that on Aug. 6 he caught the cat and kitten in a cage, poured lighter fluid on them and then lit them on fire, killing both, the DA's Office said. Man Charged With Horrific Killings Of Cat, Kitten In Hudson Valley An Orange County man has been indicted for aggravated cruelty to animals for putting a cat and a kitten in a cage and setting them on fire, according to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler. According to the DA's Office, Dee Jay Atkins, 55, of Newburgh, was arraigned Thursday, for an incident that took place in August in which he doused a cat and a kitten, who were in a cage, with lighter fluid and set them on fire, killing them.  The cats did not belong to Atkins.
