Health Officials Close Eight Suffolk County Beaches Due To High Bacteria Levels Six more beaches are closed to swimming in Suffolk County due to excess bacteria levels, according to health officials. West Islip Beach and Tanner Park Beach in Copiague had already been closed, Suffolk County announced on Wednesday, Aug. 21. The additional closings appear on an interactive map Friday, Aug. 23 and include Islip Beach, Corey Creek Beach in Brookhaven, Bayport Beach, Bayberry Beach & Tennis Club in Islip, Benjamins Beach in Bay Shore and Venetians Shores Beach in West Babylon. Alert Issued For Missing Coram Man An alert is out for a missing 35-year-old man from Coram who may be suicidal, according to Suffolk County Police. Anthony Russo was reportedly last seen at his home at 97 Theodore Drive, on Tuesday, Aug. 20, police said. He is white, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 158 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair and drives a white Jeep Liberty with FPL 6504 license plates. A photo of the man is not available. Advisories Against Bathing At 13 Nassau County Beaches Lifted Heavy rainfall led health officials to issue an advisory to close 13 beaches in Nassau County. The advisory was issued Tuesday, Aug. 20  as a precautionary measure for beaches known to be impacted by stormwater runoff caused by heavy rainfall, said the Nassau County Department of Health.  The advisory was lifted Wednesday morning at 7 a.m.,  confirmed a department spokesperson.
