Stamford Youth Soccer League's Boys U11 White Team Wins CT Cup STAMFORD, Conn. — The Stamford Youth Soccer League’s Boys U11 White Team won the Connecticut Cup on Nov. 7, winning the championship against Weston’s U11 Blue by a score of 5-1. The game was played at the Farmington Sports Fields in Farmington. The Connecticut Cup is a statewide competition in which travel teams from around Connecticut in the same age group compete against one another. The Connecticut Cup for the U11 age group fielded 80 teams this fall. Iona's Deyshonee Much Gets NCAA Waiver NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Iona College men's basketball sophomore Deyshonee Much received a legislative relief waiver from the NCAA and was eligible to play in Sunday's loss to Valparaiso. Much scored 12 points for the Gaels in their season opener. Much played his freshman campaign in 2013-14 at the University of Buffalo and enrolled at Iona in January. Easton's Cory Stirling Takes Field For WPI In Presidents Bowl Title Game EASTON, Conn. -- Cory Stirling of Easton is a member of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute football team that earned a berth to play in Friday's ECAC Division III Presidents Bowl Championship game. Bridgeport School Will Honor Longtime Advocate Geraldine Claytor BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The building that was supposed to the Longfellow School in Bridgeport will be renamed the Geraldine Claytor Magnet Academy, according to a report in the Connecticut Post. Claytor, who died earlier this month, was the home-school coordinator for Longfellow and was involved in supporting education for a long time, the Connecticut Post reported. The name change came quickly after a petition signed by about 1,100 people was submitted by Board of Education member Kenneth Morales Jr., according to the Connecticut Post.
