The course will consist of four weekly sessions beginning on Monday, March 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at SMG’s facility at 600 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 301, in Harrison.
The fee for the course is $150. Registration is required by Feb. 26.
The goal of the program, which is facilitated by Sara Somerville, a tobacco cessation specialist for Visiting Nurse Services, is to teach participants skills to deal with not smoking, while also addressing other issues such as physical addiction and psychological dependency.
The classes will also examine the various stages of quitting, which include thinking about quitting, preparing to quit, finally quitting and preventing relapse.
“We are excited to partner with Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester to offer this program,” said SMG’s managing partner, Kenneth Croen. “There are many immediate and long-term benefits to giving up the smoking habit. At SMG, we are committed to enhancing the health of the community.”
