40-Year-Old Man Drowns While Swimming In Great Sacandaga Lake Authorities are investigating after a man drowned while swimming in a lake in the region. Emergency crews in Saratoga County were called at around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, for a swimmer in distress at Great Sacandaga Lake near the town of Edinburg, according to sheriff’s officials. Investigators said the 40-year-old man was attempting to swim from shore approximately 40 yards to a waiting boat when a witness saw him go under the water and not resurface. 23-Year-Old Dies After Crash In Moreau A 23-year-old man died at the hospital after police said he fled from troopers in a vehicle and crashed into a large tree. Troopers in Saratoga County were conducting a sobriety checkpoint detail in Moreau on Hudson Falls Road at about 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, when they stopped a vehicle driven by Washington County resident Vincent Mancuso, of Fort Edward, New York State Police said.
