Bill Adding Fencing To Bridges In Region To Prevent People From Deadly Jumps Moves Forward A bill aimed at stopping suicides by adding preventive fencing to five Hudson Valley bridges has passed the New York State Senate unanimously. Now, the bill introduced by State Sen. Pete Harckham (D, Mount Kisco), will move to the State Assembly, whose session ends on Friday, June 7, for consideration. Woman Parks Car Mid-Span Of Bridge In Region, Jumps To Death A woman was killed after jumping from a bridge in the region. The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 10:30 p.m., Sunday, May 19, in the town of Rhinebeck.  According to Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge for a report of a woman who had parked her car mid-span on the bridge, exited her car, and then jumped off the bridge. ID Released For Woman Who Died After Jumping From Bridge In Region A woman who jumped to her death from a Hudson Valley bridge has been identified by police. Dutchess County resident Dawn Stackhouse, age 52, of Beekman, jumped from the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge in Rhinebeck, on Monday, April 1. According to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police, an investigation determined Stackhouse jumped from the bridge around 9:50 a.m. Good Samaritans fishing near the bridge removed her from the water and attempted life-saving measures, Hicks said. She was transported to a local area hospital where she was pronounced dead. This investigation remains ongoing.…

Tolls To Rise In Just Days On These Bridges In Region Higher toll rates are heading to several New York bridges in the region. According to the New York State Bridge Authority, as part of a four-year plan that began in 2020, the third of four rate hikes is set to take effect as of Sunday, May 1 in the Hudson Valley.
