Overturned Kayaker Rescued By Tour Boat, Firefighters In Region
An overturned kayaker was rescued from the waters of the Hudson River by a tour boat and firefighters. The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, near Dennings Point and Long Dock Park. According to the Beacon Professional Firefighters, IAFF L-Beacon Fire Units, Beacon Volunteer Ambulance, Ambulnz, New Hamburg Fire, and the City of Newburgh firefighters with their boats were dispatched for an overturned kayak with the victim in the water. Missing Kayaker Found Dead In Capital Region Lake After 16-Day Search
A western Massachusetts man who disappeared while kayaking at a lake in upstate New York has been found dead more than two weeks after he was reported missing. The body of Hampden County resident Frederick Mayock, age 47, of Springfield, was recovered Monday, Nov. 7, from Canadarago Lake in Otsego County, located about 52 miles west of Schenectady, New York State Police said. Doggie Paddle: Ballston Spa Army Veteran Kayaking, Biking 4K Miles Fundraising For Service Dogs
An Army veteran from New York is going the distance - 4,000 miles to be exact - to help his fellow veterans in need of service dogs. Saratoga County native Jimmy Thomas, age 61, of Ballston Spa, is currently kayaking from the town of Glenville all the way to Key West, Florida. He then plans to bicycle back to upstate New York.
