Truck Stopped, Found To Be Over 18K Pounds Overweight In Rye, Police Say A company was issued summonses after one of their cement trucks was found to be tens of thousands of pounds overweight during a Westchester traffic stop, police said. The traffic stop happened on Tuesday, Aug. 13 around 9 a.m., when a cement truck was pulled over by the City of Rye Police Department for an equipment violation, the department said. After police stopped the truck, they found it to be loaded with 10 yards of concrete without an overweight permit. School Announces Sudden Closure After Almost 30 Years In Westchester After nearly three decades, a nursery school in Westchester has announced that it will shut its doors for good. Season's First Positive Human West Nile Virus Cases Confirmed In Westchester West Nile Virus has made its way to humans in Westchester, officials announced. Car Crashes Into House In Westchester A driver was hospitalized after crashing into a still-under-construction house in Northern Westchester. The crash happened on Wednesday, Aug. 14 just before 12:30 p.m., when a vehicle collided with a house on Muscoot River Road in the town of Somers, according to the Somers Volunteer Fire Department. Former Town Board Member, Veteran From Westchester Dies A community in Northern Westchester is mourning the loss of a former Town Board member who dedicated much of his life to public service. Yorktown resident and former Town Board member Anthony Grasso died on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at the age of 96, town officials announced on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
