Rye Police Warn Of Television Scam

RYE, N.Y. -- Someone is trying to sell boxes of rocks disguised as televisions, according to Rye police.

Police have received several fraud reports of someone driving around in a gray minivan selling televisions. When the television box is opened, there is nothing inside but rocks. No description of the suspects or license plate information was given.

"This is an old scam, but victims still fall prey to it," police said in a statement. "Remember - if a deal seems too good to be true, it often is. Please call the Police Department if you encounter or observe suspicious activity."
